For high-risk compounded sterile preparations, nothing is more important than safety. That's why PharMEDium has pioneered the industry's most comprehensive and rigorous quality assurance
processes, administered in the industry's most advanced compounding
facility. All our intrathecal pump refills are made in our dedicated,
on-site intrathecal pharmacy featuring heat sterilization (autoclave)
of compounded drug solutions, LAL pyrogen testing, and a nitrogen
sparging process to displace dissolved oxygen and enhance stability.
For maximum administration safety, each compounded syringe receives
patient-specific labeling, in accordance with state pharmacy board

- PharMEDium has developed and validated heat-sterilized (autoclaved) cycles for the majority of drug solutions to provide the highest level of sterility assurance and patient safety
- In instances where filter sterilization is required to maintain drug sterility, each filter is integrity-tested
- Sterility testing is performed on all solutions made from nonsterile powders
- PharMEDium has an ISO 7 clean room, an ISO 5 compounding area for preparing all final intrathecal syringes and a dedicated intrathecal lab
- PharMEDium meets or exceeds all USP Chapter <797> requirements for high-risk compounding, is licensed with all appropriate state boards of pharmacy and is registered with the FDA as a manufacturer
Safer labeling and shipping:
- Each intrathecal syringe features patient-specific labeling along with alert-oriented auxiliary labels for optimal storage and patient safety
- Syringes are individually packaged in refrigerated shipping box
- Packaged syringe is shipped via overnight to desired patient-care location
